Children's School of Latvian Lutheran Church of Washington DC
Children’s Latvian School offers classes from age 4 to 13 and a play group for toddlers.
Our Latvian School was established in 1951, and we are proud that a number of our teachers, teacher’s assistants, and parents have attended this school as well.
The Latvian School program follows the American Latvian Association’s curriculum for Latvian education, as well as suggested guidelines for Latvian Schools Abroad by the Latvian Language Agency (Latviešu valodas aģentūra). Our classes are held 32- 33 Sundays a year from September until May.
The school offers 3-hour sessions for ages 4-9, 3.5-hour sessions for ages 10-13.
Our school has a principal, principal's assistant (both of whom teach as well), administrator, 21 teachers, and 4 teaching assistants.
Lessons cover Latvian language, Bible lessons, Latvian literature, history, geography, folk dancing and singing.
Classes are held at the Latvian Lutheran Church in Rockville, MD, from 9:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
